For all Demi Vollering's success in cycling - her career win tally stood at 58 before Opening Weekend - there was a cobbled Classic-shaped hole on her palmarès.

The FDJ United-Suez rider is clearly better suited to the hillier races of the Ardennes later in the spring, albeit with the power to make an impact in the cobbled races too. Her previous 10 appearances in races like the Tour of Flanders and Omloop Nieuwsblad had produced podiums, but no victories.
