Jenny Graham recounts her 2018 around-the-world record in her book Coffee First, Then the World

If you add up the time it took me to train for my 124day, 18,000-mile around-the-world record, ride it and recover, then it equals the time it took me to write the book about it. I was in my comfort zone cycling the world. Less so with the book!

When I started the record attempt, in 2018, it quickly became apparent that the diary I was intent on keeping was not going to be written with a pen. I could barely hold it by the end of the first week. I was, however, set up to do audio recordings, as BBC Scotland were putting them out twice a week across the whole journey, and they've been invaluable for the book. My mum painfully transcribed them for me during lockdown and it was probably quite traumatic for her to do so - they were often raw recordings of what was happening.
