TOP-END TRI-SUITS FOR MEN
220 Triathlon
|August 2025
Spend over £200 on a tri-suit and you should witness the aerodynamic and Ironman- distance features come to the fore. Here are 2025's slickest endurance contenders.
We’ve already covered off what’s new in entry-level tri-suits (issue 443 group test), so this month it’s the turn of the more premium men’s offerings to be put through their swim, bike and run paces, with options for women coming up in next month’s mag.
Aside from the larger spend though, what should you be looking for in a top-end tri-suit? Well, this is where brands start to couple comfort and performance with real technical edge to give you those marginal gains come race day.
Fit is key as always, but you will likely find more premium fabrics offering comfort and breathability with sweat wicking and aerodynamics a consideration. Don’t be surprised to see patterning on the fabric either, especially on the shoulders, designed to help the air move around you as seamlessly as possible on the bike.
Details like the chammy and leg grippers will be more technical which should make for a more streamlined race. Seams may be bonded rather than stitched to improve comfort and aerodynamics.
When it comes to pockets, you'll find a mix here. Some will include storage for gels, others won't – think about the race you are doing and what is available at aid stations and also what fuelling you will have on your bike.
HUUB PINNACLE £249.99Worn by some of triathlon’s swiftest age-groupers and elite athletes, including a pair of brothers from Yorkshire, Huub’s top-end tri-suits (see the Anemoi and Sub7 ranges) have long boasted the most innovative and refined aerodynamic tech. Bar their Core (now Raceline) suit, there’s been less appeal for beginner and/or budget-constrained racers, however. Although by no means cheap, the new mid-range Pinnacle looks set to be a bridge between those worlds, offering trickle-down tech from the Derby brand’s aero contenders and some welcome features for age-groupers.
