The Shroud of Turin

THE FAMED SHROUD OF TURIN GAINED its status in the 14th century thanks to its apparent depiction of an adult man with long hair and a beard—very similar to the generally accepted image of Jesus Christ.

Many believe in the shroud’s authenticity as the very cloth wrapped around the body of Jesus after his crucifixion and that his divine nature left an eternal impression of his visage, but objections to its legitimacy as a relic have long been raised.

The outline left on the shroud, while only faintly apparent to the naked eye, is undeniable when viewed in a photographic negative. The real question, though, is how that impression got there to begin with.

Thanks to one determined researcher and some open-source software, we might finally have the answer.
