An appraisal of the state of biodiversity conservation, pollution reduction and climate adaptation regimes in India
-
SOME 70 journalists from across the country gathered at the Anil Agarwal Dialogue 2026, an annual conclave organised by Delhi-based think tank Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), on February 24-27, to gain unique insights and expert views on issues of environment and development. A snapshot of the conclave:
State of India's Environment 2026: The world has "blown past the safe zone" in six of nine Planetary Boundaries, according to the State of India's Environment 2026, an annual publication by CSE and Down To Earth (DTE). While releasing the publication on February 25, Richard Mahapatra, managing editor, DTE said that breaching of planetary boundaries like climate change, biosphere integrity and freshwater change, show how much damage we humans have done to the planet. Sunita Narain, director-general, CSE, emphasised that the climate crisis is reaching a point of no return, as the world inches closer to exceeding the safe warming guardrail of 1.5°C for the first time.
