Shawn Reed on his quest to track down Team Ico memorabilia

While our latest curator is a collector of games, Shawn Reed also has a specific focus on one series in particular: the games of Team Ico.
As you can imagine, his quest began with the release of Ico. "I had read reviews of the game in magazines like Game Informer and EGM which is what initially put the game on my radar. And the positive reviews were spot-on. It's awesome."
Obviously in terms of games themselves, there are only a handful of titles, so what is it about their design that makes them so compelling?
"beautiful music, atmospheric and strange locales, and the creative use of game mechanics like the hand-holding in Ico, gripping and climbing in Shadow, and communicating with Trico in The Last Guardian. Each one is different but they all make for unique and exciting games."

The Bat Man of Best Buy

You circled the date on the calendar, started saving up your money and cleared your schedule as if the whole thing was a proper vacation. And back then, scarcity wasn't much of a concern. As long as you had a retailer nearby and some patience, you had a fair shot. Then came the Flippers.
