THINKING OVER THE CENTURIES
Geopolitics
|July 2025
If one wants to know Indian culture and thought through the ages, then Echoes of Eternity—a Journey Through Indian Thought from the Rigveda to the Present—should do the job. But many will question the choice of thinkers in this anthology, maybe that’s the idea, to get you to think on who should be in and who should be out in such a volume!

Pavan Verma’s latest book, Echoes of Eternity—A Thought from the Rigveda to the Present Author: Pavan K. Varma Publisher: Westland Non-Fiction Pages: 734 Price: 999
Pavan Verma's latest book, Echoes of Eternity-A journey Through Indian Thought from the Rigveda to the Present, is a superb anthology of the country's “cerebral interrogation, discovery and renewal that has been stored the great stream of India ideas with antiquity, continuity, diversity, assimilation, and peaks of refinement.”
But a word of caution, this is purely a Pavan selection, not necessarily something everyone will agree with. Nonetheless, by and large, it's a remarkable compendium of how sages, thinkers, teachers, politicians, and artists have contributed to the evolution of the country’s renewal and rich catalogue of ideas.
While the choice of text from those he has shortlisted in this anthology cannot be questioned, there will be many who will wonder how on earth Vinayak Damodar Savarkar features in this cerebral interrogation or for that matter, Indira Gandhi and Atal Behari Vajpayee. Many will also be outraged that Osho features in this splendid volume, although in the years since his death, Rajneesh(Osho) has emerged as a supreme intellectual who was way ahead of his time.
