Bharat Forge seeks production lines in India
Geopolitics
|January 2026
Bharat Forge is in advanced negotiations with leading European defence companies to relocate portions of their manufacturing operations to India, a move that could significantly deepen the country's role in the global defence supply chain. The development, disclosed during a media interview by Baba Kalyani, MD, Bharat Forge, confirmed discussions with two to three major European players.

Unlike traditional arrangements focused on meeting Indian armed forces requirements, the proposed collaborations are aimed squarely at export-oriented manufacturing.
The intent is to establish production lines in India that will supply global markets, enabling European firms to overcome mounting capacity constraints at home while leveraging India's scalable and cost-effective industrial base.
