Asian Photography spoke to him about his work, passion, inspiration, trends and more. Excerpts:
How did you get started in photography, and what drew you to the fashion/commercial niche?
I started in photography with a basic camera and a fascination for capturing the interplay of light and shadows. Initially it was a hobby, but as I began exploring different genres, I found myself drawn to the world of fashion and commercial photography. The transformative power of a well-composed image and its ability to tell a story in a single frame intrigued me. Fashion, in particular, provided a unique blend of art and commerce - a canvas to showcase creativity while meeting brand objectives. Working in this niche allows me to collaborate with designers, models, and stylists, which adds layers of creativity and vision to the process. The dynamic nature of the industry and its ability to constantly push boundaries made it the perfect fit for me.
How do you approach conceptualising a photoshoot?Conceptualising a photoshoot begins with understanding the story or emotion we aim to convey. Whether it's a brand campaign or a personal project, I start by brainstorming themes that align with the shoot's purpose. Mood boards are essential - they help visualise concepts, colours, and styling. Collaborating with the creative team ensures everyone's vision aligns, whether it's the designer, stylist, or art director. Location, lighting, and props play a pivotal role in shaping the final output, so I carefully plan these elements. I also consider the target audience and how they'll perceive the imagery. Once the logistics are in place, I like to keep room for spontaneity on set, as some of the best shots come from unplanned moments.

The Rise of Street Couture Photography
Street couture photography has taken over fashion culture in a way few trends have before. It blends high fashion with real world grit, turning sidewalks into runways and everyday people into style subjects. This shift did not happen overnight. It grew from a mix of social media influence, shifting brand priorities, and a global appetite for authenticity. What used to be a niche style is now a major force shaping how fashion is captured, consumed, and imagined.
