End of Game By Amos Nachoum

When you are looking for shock-value a big fierce monster eating a small cute animal is hard to beat. It’s the nature of nature though
Penguins look cute and sound cute. I’m told they don’t smell cute, but that never comes across in the pictures, so people love them. I’ve never met anyone who said that they don’t like penguins. Even leopard seals love penguins, as you can see in this striking, dramatic image from wildlife photographer Amos Nachoum.
The picture is taken from Amos Nachoum’s new book Big, that he created with fellow wildlife photographer Marko Dimitrijevic. The book is a big 256-page collection of the two photographers’ pictures of big creatures – shown big. Leopard seals qualify for a place in the book as they can grow to 10 or 11 feet long, and can weigh up to a massive 60 stone!
This leopard seal encounter happened on Pléneau Island, a 1.5km long bit of land poking out of the icy seas off the Antarctic Peninsula. Interestingly the island is named after the photographer Paul Pléneau, who was on the expedition that first charted it in 1903.
