Celebrities throw support behind Anne Curtis

Actresses Nadine Lustre, Ivana Alawi, Gabbi Garcia, Maja Salvador, Jodi Sta. Maria, Ruffa Gutierrez, Bela Padilla, Bianca King, Lotlot de Leon, Candy Pangilinan and Mylene Dizon, as well as singers Martin Nievera, Erik Santos, Moira, Janno Gibbs, K Brosas and beauty queens Pia Wurtzbach, Megan Young and Kylie Verzosa were among those who voiced support.

Even Angel Locsin, who has been on hiatus, posted a heart under the statement.

Theater icon Lea Salonga said, "Courage and class!"

Journalist Karen Davila commented: "Well said @annecurtis-smith. Thank you strongly calling out this 'macho' misogynistic culture we have accepted in the Philippines for decades and standing up for women from all social strata everywhere."

Vhong Navarro, Ryan Bang and Ogie Alcasid also showed they were 100 percent behind their "It's Showtime” co-host.

The wave of support came after the actress and host issued a statement on Instagram on Friday, March 7.

"I will be seeking legal advice and will consider all my options looking forward. I cannot believe how many misogynists have revealed themselves the past couple of days," she said.

The statement referred to comments made by Congressman Bong Suntay of Quezon City's 4th District during a House Committee on Justice hearing on the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Suntay drew criticism after citing the actress in an "analogy," saying: "Minsan nasa Shangri-la ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis, ang ganda-ganda pala niya. May desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga, na-imagine ko kung ano'ng puwedeng mangyari pero siyempre hanggang imagination lang 'yun. Pero hindi naman siguro ako puwedeng kasuhan sa kung ano ang na-imagine ko."
