Wonder woman with fear of heights wing walks for equestrian centre
Yorkshire Evening Post
|July 03, 2025
For one Leeds woman, the sky isn't the limit as she chose to celebrate her 70th birthday in a rather unconventional fashion: by wing walking.
On June 21, Kathi Rakhshan stood on top of a plane as it was in flight to raise money for Middle Park Equestrian Centre (MPEC).
Throughout her lifetime, Kathi has searched high and low for adventurous experiences. In the past, she has scuba dived over 40m deep and skydived over 25 times.
Looking for a new quest, she chose to wing walk at Leeds East Airport in Church Fenton.
Kathi said: “I just thought well I’ve done skydiving now, I’ve done scuba diving, what else can I do?
“It had been in the back of my mind for years to do a wing walk but I'd never have done it just for myself if I hadn’t had the extra impetus of doing something to help the stables.”
