Mad Mael brothers come back to Spark up another hit album

If ever there was a band whose career was summed up in a song title, it'd be the opening track from the latest Sparks album, MAD! Because Do Things My Own Way is almost a manifesto for the long-running duo, who have ploughed their unique musical furrow for more than 50 years.

The US-born but very much UK-adopted act first burst onto the music scene with a string of Top 10 hits beginning with 1974's This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us. Russell Mael's falsetto vocal and exuberant stage presence, contrasting with brother Ron - enigmatic, moustachioed, glued to his keyboard - and catapulted Sparks to stardom, gathering a cult following while breaking the pop charts.
