Elroq EV sees Skoda prioritise practicality

New electric range geared up for usability, writes Tom Sharpe

Skoda's Elroq has arrived on UK roads as the first of six electric models set to be launched by the brand by the end of 2026.

Unapologetically prioritising the class-leading space and usability that are a hallmark of the Volkswagen Group's Czech brand, the affordable crossover will go head-to-head with the likes of Kia's EV3 and the Volvo EX30.

Prices start at £31,500, with a choice of SE, SE L, Edition and Sportline trims to choose from and 50, 60 and 85 drivetrain variants offering various battery sizes and power outputs.

Until the imminent arrival of the 340PS VRS variant, all Elroqs are rear-wheel-drive.

As tested here, in £38,650 Edition 85 spec, the Elroq falls just short of the Kia's range but still claims 360 miles are possible between charges.

It also outpaces its Korean rival.
