Andy's labour of love unveiled for today's D-Day anniversary

We have recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with street parties and spectacular events up and down the country and quite rightly so.

Today, most of us can only imagine the trauma of six years of war.

There is of course another date to be remembered. The 81st anniversary of the daring and heroic D-Day landings on June 6.

Prior to D-Day, Cowplain in Hampshire had troops billeted in the area, including from the East Yorkshire Regiment.

These young people knew what they were about to face and are likely to have had an ear out for the distinctive throb of the army dispatch rider's motorbike arriving with orders for embarkation.
