Snowfall seals key Himalayan passes, Atal tunnel sole lifeline to Lahaul-Spiti

Early winter and snowfall have forced the closure of the high-altitude Rohtang and Kunzum passes, severing traditional road links to Lahaul-Spiti district and making the Atal tunnel the region's primary all-weather lifeline, officials said today.
The Lahaul & Spiti police reported the Koksar-Palchan (via Rohtang) and Koksar-Lossar (via Kunzum) routes are now shut due to snow, while all other major roads, including the strategic Manali-Keylong highway through the tunnel, remain open under cloudy skies.
