Pamela Nash, MP for Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke, has welcomed a £41.5 million funding package for Lanarkshire from the UK Government.

- ROSS THOMSON

As part of the new Pride in Place Programme fund from the UK Government, North Lanarkshire has been selected to pioneer a new way of deciding how to spend public money on tackling deprivation and improving infrastructure.

One specific area in North Lanarkshire will be awarded £20 million through the Scotland Office, receiving £2 million of funding a year for the next 10 years.

In addition North Lanarkshire Council will also receive £1.5 million of support from the Pride in Place impact fund for local projects. Similarly, South Lanarkshire is also included in the programme and £20 million has been earmarked for the local authority area.
