Convener's cash plea to Holyrood

North Lanarkshire Council's finance convener has called on the Scottish Government to ensure North Lanarkshire benefits from the Chancellor's spending review.
Councillor Andrew Duffy-Lawson has urged the government at Holyrood to ensure that North Lanarkshire receives its fair share of the recently announced investment in Scottish public services as a result of the announcement from Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
The Scotland Office said the Scottish Government would receive an extra £9.1bn across the duration of the spending review.
And Councillor Duffy-Lawson insists the extra cash presents a vital opportunity to rebuild and strengthen essential local services after years of austerity and underfunding.
He said: “This £9.1 billion investment must reach the communities that need it most. That requires a fair and transparent funding settlement for North Lanarkshire.
“Our schools, social care, transport, housing, and frontline services have been under relentless pressure after two decades of SNP austerity.
