Railway rolls back the decades for a 1940s-inspired weekend of events

VISITORS are being invited to travel back to the fabulous forties when the West Somerset Railway's 1940s Weekend returns next month.

The annual event aims to celebrate the sights and sounds of the decade with themed displays and musical performances happening at stations along the 20 miles of line between Bishops Lydeard and Minchead.
Taking place on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, one of the highlights of the weekend will be the Saturday night 1940s dance on the station platform at Minehead, accompanied by music and vocals from the Deane Big Band, May Blossom, Johnny Victory and Helen Pearson.
