More success for Nicholls and Tizzard
Western Morning News
|May 15, 2025
WESTCOUNTRY trainers Paul Nichol-lls and Joe Tizzard continued their good starts to the new jumps sea-son, both landing a Newton Abbot double on an afternoon that had plenty of excitement to keep the crowd entertained.
With four absentees, just three were left to contest the opening Classic Car Show On 7th June Novices’ Hurdle with the Nicholls-trained Courageous Strike, who made all the running to win at Chepstow last time, a red-hot favourite to follow up. He touched 1/12 in the betting before easing slightly to 1/8 and had no problem in seeing off his two oppo-nents, again leading from the start to win comfortably.
Pink Eyed Pancho, who has shown improved form since the ground dried up, was backed from 4/1 into 5/2 favourite to fol-low up his Taunton win in the Terry Wheeler Birthday Novices’ Handicap Hurdle.
