Woman lived in fear of rapist who 'waged a campaign of violence'

Swansea Crown Court heard that before raping his victim Simon Morgan dragged the woman to the floor, assaulted her, and made threats to kill her while brandishing a bottle of rum. Morgan then refused to leave the victim's address for several hours.

Ian Wright, prosecuting, read a personal statement from the victim to the court in which the woman set out how the attack had had a "massive" impact on her mental health.

The court heard Morgan also carried out an unrelated and brutal attack on a man in Neath which left the victim with severe facial injuries which required reconstructive surgery and which has left him a "social recluse"

Morgan also carried out two assaults on a woman, one of which took place on Llangennith beach in front of beach-goers, including a family visiting Gower from the north of England.
