Victims of broken service feel invisible

THE dreadful testimony of a mental health patient waiting four years for an appointment is sadly commonplace.

‘The dire lack of care is no longer shocking. ‘The state of mental health services in Wales is so bad, and has been for so long, that those in charge appear to accept it as the status quo.

Certainly there is scant evidence of effective action to provide faster help for those needing it.

This tacit acceptance of a broken service, both for patients and medics, reflects badly on those in charge of the NHS in Wales, policymakers, civil servants and politicians.

No-one seems finally accountable and no-one seems able to get a grip on the intolerable situation.
