Text conversations were ‘an escape from reality’
Western Mail
|October 17, 2025
A WOMAN accused of plotting with two former servicemen to murder her husband has told her trial the text conversations with her lover had been “an elaborate fantasy” and were an “escape” from the real world.
Giving evidence to the trial at Swansea Crown Court, Michelle Mills accepted she had been “enthralled” at the fantasy her husband's “demise” but said she never wanted him harmed, and never thought Geraint Berry would act on the words.
It is alleged that Michelle Mills, the wife of the intended target, had conspired with two former servicemen - one of whom she was having an affair with - to kill her husband. The trio deny conspiracy to murder and are on trial at Swansea Crown Court.
The court has heard that on the night of September 20 last year Michelle Mills and her husband Christopher were in their holiday caravan at the Argoed Meadow camping park in Cenarth near Newcastle Emlyn when two men - Berry and Steven Thomas, who were both wearing balaclavas and brandishing imitation handguns - burst in.
Mr Mills fought off and disarmed the raiders who then fled into the night. For the latest court stories sign up to our crime newsletter.
