COLWYN

Bay are hoping to clinch their place in the top six in the JD Cymru Premier with victory over Flint Town United on New Year's Day.Michael Wilde's side gained promotion as champions of JD Cymru North last season and with only two games left to go in Phase 1 are within touching distance of mixing it with the best in Phase 2.

Caernarfon Town missed the chance to close the gap on third place to a single point as they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Colwyn Bay last weekend.

Goals from Nathan Peate and Jamie Cumming sent the Seagulls into a 2-0 lead before a penalty from Sion Bradley set up a rip-roaring final 20 minutes.

But Wilde's men were able to hang on to record a notable double over the Cofis and move into fifth in the table with two games left to play before the break.

They are due to meet Caernarfon for a third time this season in the quarterfinals of the JD Welsh Cup at the end of January.
