Brian Barry-Murphy says Alex Robertson could play "a big part in the season" for Cardiff City, with the midfielder still waiting for his first outing of the campaign.

The Australia international was injured in the preseason game against Notts County and then suffered a setback with a hamstring injury later in the summer, however Barry-Murphy has cleared him fit to play in the last few weeks.

The 22-year-old has been omitted from matchday squads thus far, but Barry-Murphy believes the talented midfielder is now progressing well in training as he looks to force his way into contention ahead of the clash with Bolton Wanderers tomorrow.

"Alex returned from the United States on the Friday, has had a full week of training," Barry-Murphy said.

"He trained on Friday, then trained on Saturday, on the day of the game, and then has had a really good week of training so far, so he's doing really well, progressing in the way that I want from him.

"He's going to train today and then be available like all the rest of the players tomorrow.

"I think he's in a much better condition, physically, and the training that I've seen from him recently has been very positive."
