> Kal Bowen forced his victim to drive to Manorbier post office and withdraw cash

- JASON EVANS Reporter

A ROBBER armed with a claw hammer jumped into a car and threatened the driver he would "change his life" unless he gave him money, a court has heard.

Kal Bowen forced his terrified victim to drive to a post office where the man withdrew money - and bought the carjacker a four-pack of beer.

Bowen then warned his victim not to call the police. Bowen's barrister told Swansea Crown Court the 22-year-old's behaviour on the day in question was "a remarkably stupid thing to do".

Sian Cutter, prosecuting, told the court that on October 12 last year the victim had just dropped off a friend in Manorbier in Pembrokeshire when Bowen approached and got into the vehicle's passenger seat.

The court heard the defendant was carrying a claw hammer and threatened the driver, telling him he would "change his life" if he didn't give him money. He then demanded the keys to the car.
