River has one of the UK's highest levels of chemicals

A RIVER which feeds into the river Wye has among the highest number of chemicals known as biocides in the country, it has been revealed.

Environmental groups Wildlife and Countryside Link (WCL) and the Rivers Trust scoured official water quality data from English rivers for seven key biocides: the fungicides Azoxystrobin and Propiconazole; Diuron, a herbicide and algicide; the fungicide, preservative and anti-parasitic agent Thiabendazole; the antimicrobial Triclosan; and the insecticides Picaridin (Bayrepel) and N,N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET).
