AS SWANSEA MP Torsten Bell, a Treasury minister, handed his phone forward to Rachel Reeves, you can only imagine what went through her mind.

To see your big moment, the big Budget, be published, basically in full on the OBR website a few hours ahead of schedule and before you took your place to announce it must have been galling.

You have to feel for her.

This time, it actually wasn't a Labour mistake, but this was meant to be her big attempt at rectifying all those that have been.

It did seem to take the Chancellor a few moments to recover, but within 10 or so minutes, she was in full flow.

There were lots of words, lots of promises and some very large numbers.
