Providing source of light to people in darkest times

THERE is a common perception that people associate Marie Curie strictly with cancer care and do not realise the full scope of the charity's work.

Marie Curie supports people with any illness they're likely to die from, including dementia, heart disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson's and advanced cancer, as well as supporting families and loved ones through bereavement.

I want to share my experience of working for Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life care charity, during this International Nurses Day today.

It is a privilege for me to be there for someone in their final weeks or months, to help them live with dignity, comfort and meaning right to the end.

As a clinical nurse specialist and team leader, I support people at home who are living with a terminal diagnosis.
