Pep left to sweat on fitness of top stars

MANCHESTER City boss Pep Guardiola says star striker Erling Haaland will face a late fitness test ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with Swansea.

The Norwegian was due to be assessed yesterday, having looked in some discomfort during the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, and it remains to be seen whether he will play any part at the Swansea.com Stadium.

“Erling, I didn’t see him today but it was a knock and day by day is better,” the Spanish boss said yesterday. “But now we train this afternoon and will know more exactly how he feels.”

Meanwhile, influential Spanish midfielder Rodri appears to be ruled out, having missed the last three games with a muscular issue.

But Abdukodir Khusanov does look set to be involved against the Swans. “Khusa is ready to play a few minutes tomorrow and Rodri is still not,” Guardiola added.
