New visitor hub for Moel Famau
Western Mail
|April 11, 2025
A NEW visitor hub will be built at one of Wales' most frequented mountains, Moel Famau.
Despite being only half the height of Yr Wyddfa at 554m, its close proximity to Chester and Liverpool makes it a favourite among walkers and day-trippers. Denbighshire council's own proposal to enhance the facilities available to the 300,000 visitors who visit the site each year has been approved by the council's planning committee.
It was given the go-ahead despite concerns about litter and the building being in the open countryside.
The new hub will now be built with information and restroom facilities, ranger space and associated works at the highest summit in the Clwydian range.
The plans at the upper Bwlch Pen Barras car park will also include a cafe and office space - although some members objected to the term “cafe”.
