Even though the weather is much warmer than usual at the moment, millions of people are still worried about the rising cost of gas and electricity.

Some good news though! The energy price cap - the maximum amount you pay for each unit of energy you use - has gone down.

That means around 21 million households on variable tariffs will be paying on average around £10.75 less each month.

So are the days of energy price hikes over? Sadly not, as bills are still much higher than they were five years ago. Furthermore, prices are only predicted to drop a paltry 1% in three months' time at the next price cap announcement.

So with all this volatility, is this the point where you should fix your bills? Here’s my guide.

Should I switch my supplier or fix my bill?

Energy switching is when you go to another provider to get a better deal. For years, this wasn’t really worth it, unless you really hated your energy provider. But these days, we're finally seeing some better deals to entice you away.
