Hotel chef dishes up his own serving of success

A WELSH hotel chef has been crowned the UK’s best after winning praise for his “passion and generosity”.

Douglas Balish, who works at Grove of Narberth, in Pembrokeshire, was recognised at the Hotel “Cateys” 2025.
The celebration is described as being among the UK hospitality industry's most respected awards, recognising exceptional talent, creativity and dedication across hotels nationwide.
Since joining Grove of Narberth back in 2019, Balish has shaped what has been described as a food experience connected to the Pembrokeshire landscape, using seasonal local produce from both the kitchen garden at the estate and a trusted network of growers, farmers and fishermen.
