Western Mail
|December 05, 2025
A MAN threw a rucksack into a garden as he tried to get away from police officers who had spotted him acting suspiciously.
-
What Joshua Watkins didn't realise is that a police helicopter crew were watching his every move and saw exactly where the bag landed.
Watkins, 23, had thrown the bag packed with illegal drugs into a garden on the Ringland estate in Newport, where officers were able to recover it.
The 23-year-old, from Cwmbran, appeared for sentencing at Newport Crown Court when he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A (cocaine), possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis resin) and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.
