European troops start to arrive in Greenland

TROOPS from several European countries have arrived in Greenland in a show of support for the Arctic island's security.

Their arrival came after talks between representatives of Denmark, Greenland and the United States on Wednesday highlighted “fundamental disagreement” between US President Donald Trump’s administration and European allies on the future of the autonomous territory of Denmark.
Denmark announced it would increase its military presence in Greenland on Wednesday and several European partners - including the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden - started sending symbolic numbers of troops as the Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers were preparing to meet White House representatives in Washington.
