Champions to test Steelmen

EBBW Vale will look to continue their faultless start to the campaign this afternoon when they make the short trip to Super Rygbi Cymru champions Newport.

The Black and Ambers were victorious over Ebbw in the playoff final back in May, but their respective starts to the seasons could not be more contrasting.

The Steelmen head into another Gwent derby on the back of four wins out of four so far, while have also collected the maximum 24 points on offer to boot.

Newport, meanwhile, have suffered a nightmare start to the defence of their crown, losing all five of their opening fixtures and are bottom of the table. Ty Morris’ men will hope to get off the mark at the sixth time of asking.

Ebbw, who also made the SRC Cup final last season, are gunning for silverware this time around after their near misses last term. They are now the only side in SRC with their unbeaten record still intact.
