Rovers appear set to add Balmer to ranks

Rovers look set to make their second signing of the January transfer window, with Motherwell’s Kofi Balmer reportedly joining on loan for the rest of the campaign. It is understood that several clubs across Scotland, Northern Ireland and England were keen on the centre-back, 25, but his preference was always to move to a club in England.

Should he sign for Rovers, his debut could be against Plymouth in the EFL Trophy tomorrow.

Scotland's Daily Record - a sister paper of the Daily Press - broke the story on Friday evening that Rovers had agreed terms with Motherwell to sign Balmer, pictured right.

They wrote: "Kofi Balmer is closing in on a loan deal to Bristol Rovers. The English League Two side have agreed terms with Motherwell. The central defender is expected to travel south over the weekend to finalise his move.
