Not enough runs - Nat

ENGLAND skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt admitted that her side did not get enough runs in the First Women’s One-Day International against India on Wednesday despite a spirited recovery with the bat.

‘The hosts were in real trouble at 97 for four batting first, but Sophia Dunkley put on an innings-saving 83 which helped England to 258 for six from 50 overs.

India looked in control with the bat at the start of their innings, but a cluster of wickets swung momentum back to England until Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues came to the crease. Sharma's knock of 62 ensured they secured a victory to kickoff the three-match ODI series.

Sciver-Brunt said: “Sophia Dunkley and Alice Davidson-Richards played really, really well. To get to that total from 90-odd for four was brilliant, but ultimately we didn’t have enough runs.
