Government to rule in row over railway crossing

THE Government will be asked to decide what to do about a dangerous footpath in the countryside north of Bristol.

‘The footpath is near the village of Charfield and runs over the railway line between Bristol and Birmingham, but Network Rail wants to close the crossing.

‘The footpath runs from Poolfield Farm across the railway line to the bend in New Street, crossing over the tracks. The official public right of way has been closed for several years, with a replacement “permissive path” now the route that is open to the public.
