KYLE McAllister scored twice as Forest Green held off an Aldershot fightback to claim a 3-2 win in the National League.

McAllister opened the scoring in the 25th minute after he collected a pass from Jayden Clarke and coolly slotted home before Clarke turned finisher to put the visitors two up seven minutes before the break.

McAllister cut back on to his left foot and fired home his second in the 61st minute.

Aldershot came back into the contest with two goals in four minutes from Ciaran Gilligan and Kwame Thomas, but they could not find an equaliser.

Speaking afterwards, Forest Green boss Robbie Savage said: “It’s three points away from home in the National League.

“I thought we controlled the game well in the first half; we deserved the goals, and we should have scored more.

"We're third in the National League; there are some huge clubs up there, some that might not think that we'll challenge them, but we're not going away.

"I'm delighted, it's a huge win for us. These are the places you've got to come to, and if you get positive results, the bigger games take care of themselves; these are the games that matter”

Meanwhile, Tyrell Sellars-Fleming scored the only goal as Scunthorpe extended their unbeaten National League run to five games after defeating Yeovil 1-0 at the Attis Arena.

The decisive moment arrived in the 22nd minute when Sellars-Flemming tapped into an empty net after Declan Howe slid in to win a challenge with Yeovil goalkeeper Jed Ward before setting up his colleague.
