Cotterill is all set for return
Western Daily Press
|September 30, 2025
CHELTENHAM Town are set to confirm Steve Cotterill as their new manager within the next 24 hours, Gloucestershire Live - the sister website of the Daily Press - understands.
It marks an emotional return for the club’s most successful manager, who famously guided the Robins from the Southern League to League One between 1997 and 2002.
A mark of Cotterill’s success was that the crowd for his first home game in charge was 704, while the attendance for his final home match was 7,013.
The 61-year-old, a Cheltenham native, played for the Robins in the Southern League before going on to feature in the Premier League with Wimbledon, along with spells at Bournemouth and Brighton.
His managerial career began at Irish club Sligo Rovers, whom he led into the 1996 UEFA Intertoto Cup, earning creditable draws against Nantes and Heerenveen.
