BRISTOL City will assess George Tanner ahead of today’s clash with West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship.

- DANIEL CARTER

The Robins play their Boxing Day fixture at the Baggies, looking to build upon their weekend triumph over high-flying Middlesbrough.

In his post-Boro press conference, boss Gerhard Struber suggested the aim was for Tanner to return to training on Monday, and assistant Bernd Eibler has since confirmed that was the case, making a return to action today a possibility.

Speaking on Tuesday, Eibler said: “On Thursday (Christmas Day), we'll see how he trains, but I think, I'm pretty sure, he could be in the roster.”

One man who did return from injury to face Boro last weekend was fellow defender Rob Atkinson.

Having last played in October, the 27-year-old was introduced by early in the second half by Struber, replacing Anis Mehmeti, who had missed much of the previous week's training through illness.
