Carr's happy with Rovers' '90-minute performance'

The Gas were quick to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Walsall last weekend with a victory in the EFL Trophy, Luke Thomas bagging the only goal of the game. This sets them back to winning ways ahead of the visit of MK Dons to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Creating the lion’s share of the chances between the two sides, Darrell Clarke’s men eventually broke the deadlock on the hour mark as Thomas tucked an arrow of a shot into the bottom left corner to secure the three points for the Pirates.

Efforts from Fabrizio Cavegn and another from Thomas saw Rovers force saves and blocks from the Robins defence, with Bryant Bilongo and Ruel Sotiriou also getting shots off before the goal.

Untroubled by Cheltenham’s ventures forward, the Gas were able to see out the victory with relative ease.

“That's the standard that the gaffer demands, that the football club requires, so yeah, really professional,’ detailed Carr after full time. “We're really pleased, like you say, the attitude, the application with the ball and without the ball, the intensity. A lot of boxes ticked. But at the same time, that’s what we expect and that’s what we demand as well.

“There's no football club in the world that’s won every single game. ‘The idea is that you want to go on winning runs and as soon as you do lose a game you want to get quickly back to winning ways so to be able to do that tonight, that's exactly what we're after. Credit to the lads, that's what they've done.”
