BRISTOL is the least affordable city for renters outside of London.
-
It cost £1,893 a month to rent a typical private home in Bristol in the year to January 2026, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The average salary, meanwhile, is £3,292 a month before tax. That means 57 per cent of the typical pretax salary goes towards rent. That's the highest proportion outside of London, and is only just behind the London average of 58 per cent.
