Anderson wins to set up an all-Somerset clash with Hood

FORMER two-time champion Gary ‘Anderson advanced to the last eight of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace as he sunk below-par Michael van Gerwen 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Anderson’s opponent in today’s quarterfinals will be Glastonbury’s Justin Hood who has made a big impact on the tournament in his first appearance.
Frequent mixed doubles cost the three-time winner van Gerwen dear and saw him knocked out before the quarterfinals for the first time in a decade.
“I knew Michael misses a few doubles now and again but not that many - happy to get through,” shrugged Anderson, who is Scottish but lives in Burnham-on Sea.
Next up for Anderson is Hood who reeled off a record 11 consecutive doubles en route to a stunning 4-0 win over 11th seed Josh Rock earlier on Tuesday.
