A trip down memory lane for millennials
Western Daily Press

If a popular musical gets a full house of mostly young people on their feet singing and clapping, I am all for it.
-
Some people get sniffy about productions that are not Shakespeare or Austen, but if you saw the queue outside the Theatre Royal, Bath, on Wednesday night for the opening of Cruel Intentions: The ‘90s Musical it is proof of the pudding.
Based on the cult 90s teen movie Cruel Intentions, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Reese Wetherspoon, the musical is a trip down memory lane for millennials.
And it was great to see them at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday night, with everyone was on their feet at the end clapping along to songs from the 90s including hits by Christina Aguilera, Placebo, Britney Spears, Garbage and The Verve.
Like many teen movies, the film is based on a classic story, in this case Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos which was published more than 200 years earlier.
