'Please don't let cobbler shop die out after 30 years of great service'

A COBBLER shop which has been in Shepton Mallet for more than 30 years is threatened with closure unless people in the town start using it again.

Shepton has already lost lots of independent shops and now the owners of The Shepton Cobbler say they might have to close unless they get more trade.

The shop is run by father and son Mike Wassell, 86, and Barry Wassell, 46.

Mike has worked as a cobbler all his life and is still working.

Business is so bad a friend posted on Facebook last week asking people to support the shop, putting a photograph of Mike and Barry on the post.

"If you don’t use it you lose it", the post said and since then lots of local people have come out in support.
