THE South West & Wales Baseball League continued on Sunday as Taunton Baseball Club’s Pistols travelled to Truro to face the Cornish Pioneers, while the Muskets had a weekend off after Bournemouth Bears forfeited their AA match-up.
-
In Cornwall, the Pistols split their doubleheader, losing 12-8 and winning 22-13.
The Pistols have been a solid hitting team this season, and game one was no exception.
They jumped into an early lead with a two-out rally to score twice in the first inning, before limiting the Pioneers to just one run in the bottom half of the first.
The hosts struck back immediately, shutting down Pistols’ offense and adding five runs to go 6-2 ahead. A big fourth innings from Pistols saw them regain the lead, however Pioneers matched the runs.
