Vietnam Investment Review
|March 23, 2026
The Lien Chieu Container Terminal in Danang now has an investor, with construction expected to be commenced soon to facilitate ship travel.
Major port operators are getting involved in the massive port complex in Danang city
On March 16, Danang People's Committee approved the selection of an investor for the $1.7 billion undertaking. The winning bidder was a consortium comprising Hateco Group, Hateco Port, and APM Terminals B.V. from the Netherlands.
The investor's capital contribution is over $352 million, with the remainder mobilised from credit institutions.
According to the decision, the venture is scheduled to be completed in approximately 10 years. The projected container throughput for the Lien Chieu Container Terminal after three years of operation (phase 1) is 4 million TEU annually.
The terminal will cover approximately 172.6 hectares, excluding the connecting water area, shipping channel, and shared turning basin within the Lien Chieu terminal area.
