Commerce and services playing vital role in Vietnamese purchasing power

The Vietnamese economy’s purchasing power remains upbeat on the back of an expansion in commerce and service activities.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) last week released official figures on the country’s service sector performance. In the first four months of 2026, the domestic economy recorded 77,800 newly registered enterprises, registered at $31.4 billion, and a total of 356,900 registered employees, up 50.7 per cent in the number of businesses, 60.1 per cent in registered capital, and 0.3 per cent in employment as compared to the corresponding period last year.

The service sector saw the most number of new enterprises, up 48.7 per cent, followed by the industry and construction sector and the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector.
